Lateral Thoughts on Life.

Hope.

I generally stay away from political statements or religous debates but I am not immune to the raging Obama euphoria.

I too am caught up in the Audacity of Hope.

Audacity

Audacity

I don’t have any original take on the whole issue, just a sense of Optimism Now that never occurred when the headlines were all about Abu Ghraib.

Bush impressed me only with his ability to dodge shoes and calmness under certain extreme pressures. Compared to Obama he’ll hopefully become a minor footnote in history.

The huge crowds in Washington made me think of Palm Sunday though when Jesus paraded triumphantly through the streets. I hope there is no Crucifixion to follow, but regrettably Marcus Garvey has shown us that those who raise us up will also quickly trample us under foot.

As you look closer, the illusion of power gives way to the reality of pain.

How can the expectations of so many be satisfied ?

Mr. President

Mr. President

Obama cannot rest on his laurels, he must hit the ground running and never look back, he must continue to be flawless in his actions and strategy.

His success will be measured by how much he can change the world.

“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That’s the world! On which hope sits!” was how Obama once described the world.

It is also the World he’ll have to continue to change for the better.
